About the Rankings...
The Rankings are separated into two
categories:
Teams:
All the competitive boys and girls teams from Ontario are eligible for this ranking. The requirements are that they play in an Ontario-based league
and their respective league website maintains accurate and up to date statistics required for the rankings.
The home page will show the top team teams for each age division. Click on the Team Name to see game-by-game details or on Full Ranking to view all the teams
in that age group.
The full ranking will show the name, club, league and division for each team. Click on any of these to see more information. It will
also show the overall, league and Cup records for each team, as well as the total ranking points (TPR).
Clubs:
All the competitive youth soccer clubs are eligible for this ranking, provided their teams are included in either the boys and/or girls team categories.
Clubs are be ranked in organization (Community) and results (Performance) to come up with an overall ranking.
Feel free to use these statistics however you wish, all I ask is you credit the source by providing

How the Rankings Work...
Background:
This system was
developed in an attempt to promote interest in organized, competitive youth
soccer. Its goals are as follows:
1. Add to the enjoyment of competitive youth soccer by providing further
recognition of accomplishments.
2. Promote greater access to information by encouraging leagues and
tournaments to publish timely results on the internet.
3. Provide teams, clubs, leagues and tournaments an indication of their
quality, competitive level and performance.
The following is an
overview of the basis on which the ranking is calculated.
Overview:
The TERRA Power Rankings will include all male and female
competitive youth teams (starting at U12) from the following leagues, provided they meet
the requirements for providing information:
- Ontario Youth Soccer League (OYSL)
- Central Soccer League (CSL)
- Central Girls Soccer League (CGSL)
- South Region Soccer League (SRSL)
- East Region Soccer League (ERSL)
- Western Ontario Youth Soccer League (WOYSL)
- London District Youth Soccer League (LDYSL)
- Windsor and District Soccer League (WADSL)
- Central East Soccer League (CESL)
- Toronto District Youth Soccer League (TDYSL)
- York Region Soccer League (YRSL)
- Inter City Soccer League (ICSL)
- Sudbury Regional Competitive Soccer League (SRCSL)
- North York Soccer League (NYSL)
Provided they are available
and/or submitted properly, the following statistics are taken into
consideration:
- League standings
- Ontario Cup
- League Cup (where used)
- Ontario Tournaments
How Points are Gained
League Standings:
The baseline for the
rankings is the individual league standings. Each team starts off with a
point total based on their league record (approximately 20xW + L + 10xT).
The total is then divided by the number of games to account for leagues
having different schedules.
Ontario Cup:
As the biggest
tournament in the province, as well as the only one that exclusively
features Ontario teams, the Ontario Cup plays a big part in the rankings.
Teams will receive points for advancing past the group stage, and for every
subsequent win. Points will be scaled based on the level of the competition.
Ontario Cup also plays a big role in developing the league seeding, which is
explained below. Ontario Cup results can be submitted at
Tournament Central.
League Cup:
League Cup victories will also be factored into the rankings (based on
availability). The actual points gained will be dependent on the round and
the level of competition. League Cup results can be submitted at
Tournament Central.
Tournaments:
Tournament results will be included if they are properly entered at
Tournament Central. The top four finishers will receive points based on
their finish and the strength of the tournament. Tournament strength will be
based on the rankings of the top four teams. If results from more than four
tournaments are included for a team, only the top four will be used.
League Seeding:
Once the points are
calculated, the seeding for each league will be assessed. This seeding is
what is included into the rankings to account for the varying strengths of
Ontario's leagues.
The initial seeding will be
based on historical information and on the pyramid structure of the
province's leagues. During the season the seeding for each division will be
updated based on the following factors:
- Performance of teams from that division against other divisions (Ontario
Cup & Tournaments)
- Overall balance of the division (point spread from top to bottom)
Awards:
The following will be honoured
by the website at the end of each season:
- Team of the Year
- Club of the Year
- Boys Team of the Year
- Girls Team of the Year
- Performance Club of the Year
- Community Club of the Year
- Provincial Team (Level 1) of the Year (boys & girls)
- Regional Team (Level 3) of the Year (boys & girls)
- District Team (Level 4+) of the Year (boys & girls)
